The owners of a 1930s house in Chipstead, Surrey approached us, asking if we believed their house had potential for development, as they were thinking of moving, having lived there for over 25 years.
After meeting them, we contacted some of their neighbours and discovered that there was an appetite to sell from several of them, so we arranged a group meeting to see if there was a way forward.
It turned out that all of them were interested – subject to money and timing. We approached some retirement providers with the results of our efforts, and a few weeks later McCarthy & Stone had made offers on all four houses, for more than their market value.
